Play of the Day: Donald Trump 'Humbly' Accepts the Nomination
Nothing says "humility" like a gold backdrop and your name in a huge font.
In his speech at the Republican National Convention this week, Ted Cruz did not endorse Donald Trump for president. The audience at the RNC booed Cruz during his speech and late-night took notice. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that the boos make Cruz stronger, while Late Night's Seth Meyers noted that no one is "more comfortable being hated than Ted Cruz."
The Trump spoke at the RNC Thursday night and said that he "humbly accepts" the GOP's nomination for president. The Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about Trump's background in entertainment, while his former Comedy Central comrade Jon Stewart listed the previous speakers at the RNC with humor. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah keyed in on Trump's use of the word "humbly" and noted the irony of such humility while standing underneath the nominee's name in "9,000-point font" with a gold backdrop.
