Play of the Day: Melania Trump's Unoriginal Speech
The prospective First Lady took some lines from the current one.
The Republican National Convention's first night Monday featured speakers ranging from former TV star Scott Baio to Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about Baio's job prospects, while The Daily Show's Trevor Noah wondered who all these people were.
The biggest speech of the night went to the Donald Trump's wife Melania, but controversy hit the GOP when it was revealed that she lifted lines from Michelle Obama's 2008 Democratic National Convention speech. Late-night hosts had a field day with this revelation. The Nightly Show's Larry Wilmore joked about Melania lifting the "Let's Move" campaign, while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about time machines and Ronald Reagan. Meyers joked about a former Trump campaign staffer's comments about firing the parties responsible and Late Show's Stephen Colbert said "if only there was someone in the Trump campaign who enjoyed firing people."
