Play of the Day: Donald Trump Takes on Hate Crimes
The president-elect tells those committing violent acts to "stop it."
Donald Trump and Barack Obama met at the White House last week and, according to reports, Trump was overwhelmed by the responsibilities of the office he just won. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump seemed surprised by the scope and that his staff was "unaware that the entire presidential staff working in the West Wing had to be replaced at the end of Mr. Obama’s term." According to the newspaper, Obama will help train Trump in the coming months, prompting Late Show's Stephen Colbert to joke that Trump would be Obama's... Apprentice.
Trump went on 60 Minutes Sunday night and was asked about a rash of hate crimes since his election last week. Trump turned "to camera" for emphasis and said "Stop it." Vice's Desus and Mero joked that this is the kind of method you use to discipline a dog who peed in the house, while Jimmy Kimmel noted that such methods are effective … with toddlers. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah wondered if Trump could use this method with other problems like ISIS and illegal immigration.
