Play of the Day: Mitt Romney's Awkward Dinner With Donald Trump
The former critic of the president-elect changed his tune once he got to eat frog legs with the man.
The First Family decorated the White House for Christmas for the final time in the two terms of Barack Obama this week. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that they savored the moment because Santa Claus probably isn't coming back for the next four years.
President-elect Donald Trump dined with Mitt Romney at New York's swanky French restaurant Jean Georges this week to talk about a potential cabinet position for the former Massachusetts governor. Romney was a harsh critic of Trump during the campaign, so late-night hosts joked about Romney flip-flopping, with Viceland's Desus and Mero joking that Romney's joined the "Chancleta Gang," using the Spanish word for flip-flop. Fallon joked about a potential romance between Romney and Trump, while The Daily Show's Trevor Noah and Conan O'Brien noted that the populist Trump eating fancy French cuisine is quite the 180. Noah even noted that sautéed frog legs were on the menu, probably making one of Trump's biggest Twitter supporters very angry.
