Play of the Day: More From Trump's Visit to The National Museum of African American History and Culture
The president saw some relics of slavery and deemed them "not good."
The 89th annual Academy Awards are coming up this weekend and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said this week that President Donald Trump will not be watching the event. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about Spicer, saying he would be there because he's nominated for Most Animated Short.
Martin Luther King Jr.'s niece Alveda King, who accompanied the president on his visit, said that Trump's trip to Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture included the president seeing relics of slavery and saying “That is really bad" and "That is not good.” Late Show's Stephen Colbert noted Trump's word choice, joking about a possible Trump-ish title change for Civil War novel The Red Bad of Courage. Colbert also noted that Trump said “That is really bad" about a set of shackles that were used on child slaves, saying Trump would say "Chains on a kid? What is this? The airport?"
