Play of the Day: Sean Spicer Tries to Stop the Leaking
The White House has a problem with the press.
After a meeting with governors late last week, President Donald Trump said "nobody knew that healthcare could be so complicated" about Republican efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked that at least one woman knew, while Late Show's Stephen Colbert could name one man -- who previously occupied Trump's current D.C. address -- who knew. Colbert also joked that Trump's statement was like if Colbert "performed open-heart surgery tomorrow and said 'Wow. Nobody said it'd be so wet in here.'"
According to reports, Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer called a meeting recently of the White House's communications staff, who were told to "dump their phones on a table for a 'phone check'" in order to find who was leaking to the press. This meeting was leaked to the press, causing Meyers to joke that Spicer found out that the White House is trying to bail out a rowboat with a spaghetti strainer, while The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked that even Jesus said of Spicer, "Man, you got betrayed hard."
