Play of the Day: Recapping Easter at the Trump White House
It was a festive holiday at 1600 Pennsylvania in so many ways.
President Donald Trump held the 139th White House Easter Egg Roll Monday, prompting late-night hosts to devote a lot of time to the event. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the origins of the event, as well as the unfortunate typo that the White House's Snapchat account sent out about Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. In joking about White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer's time reading to children, Conan O'Brien reminded viewers of Spicer's tough time last week.
The White House Easter Bunny costume was also mocked Monday night. Desus and Mero joked that the costume's face looked surprised that Trump's president while slo looking a lot like Sen. Mitch McConnell. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked that the bunny costume might've held Sean Spicer, while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon also joked about the bunny's facial expression.
An awkward moment came during the singing of the "The Star-Spangled Banner," when First Lady Melania Trump seemingly had to nudge her husband's arm to get him to put his hand over his heart during the song. Noah and fallon joked that she said something about trump not having a heart, while Colbert joked that he almost forgot to put his hand over his face while watching the video.
