Play of the Day: Al Franken and Sexual Harassment
Late-night notes that sexual predation is not a partisan issue.
The company behind the game Cards Against Humanity is buying land against the U.S.-Mexico border in an attempt to tie President Donald Trump's proposed border wall up in court. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that Jenga could get in on this and big to build the actual wall.
On Wednesday, radio and TV host Leeann Tweeden wrote a first person account of being groped and harassed by Minnesota Democratic Senator Al Franken during a USO trip in 2006. A photo of Franken during the trip surfaced, forcing Franken to apologize and endorse an ethics investigation into his past. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the photo, saying that women might want to wear military protection just encountering men in their normal lives, while Late Show's Stephen Colbert connected Franken's apology to the nature of consent. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked about the photo, too, saying Franken's pose was damning in itself, saying "if I saw Franken doing that in a supermarket, I'd be like 'Hey! Leave that fruit alone!'"
