Play of the Day: Donald Trump, John Dowd and Twitter
The president's personal lawyer said he wrote a potentially incriminating tweet about Michael Flynn.
According to an excerpt from an upcoming book, former Donald Trump 2016 campaign official Hope Hicks would steam the future president's suit pants while he was still wearing them. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the news, saying Hicks only did it because no woman would want to say "Mr. Trump, please take off your pants."
Former White House official Michael Fynn said he is cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation after pleading guilty on Friday, prompting the White House to explain Trump's tweets and statements on the subject. One bit of news was that Trump's personal lawyer John Dowd told reporters that he tweeted over the weekend on the president's Twitter account, prompting late-night hosts to swarm. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked that Trump's Twitter account might end up being like the meme from the film Snowman while Colbert joked "I certainly hope John Dowd has a lawyer. A lawyer way better than John Dowd." The Daily Show's Trevor Noah also joked about Dowd's methods, comparing him to Johnnie Cochran's defense of O.J. Simpson.
