Play of the Day: Donald Trump's Feud With Kirsten Gillibrand
The president took to Twitter to insult his home state's junior senator.
Representatives Lamar Smith and Carlos Curbelo held the annual "bipawtisan" dog holiday party on Capitol Hill this week, hosting dogs of members of Congress for a holiday event. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the news, saying the party was one of the few occasions where members of Congress "can engage in heavy petting and not have to resign."
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand called on President Donald Trump to resign Tuesday after women accusing Trump of sexual crimes ranging from harassment to assault were highlighted in news reports this week. Trump responded by tweeting that Gillibrand was "begging" him for contributions, "would do anything" for them," and that Gillibrand was "used" like an object by the Clintons. The tweet prompted critics to suggest Trump was himself sexually harassing Gillibrand and late-night hosts to joke about the news. Colbert wondered how First Lady Melania Trump's anti-cyberbullying initiative is going, while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that Trump is trying to get his approval ratings down. The Opposition's Laura Grey joked that Trump was being empowering toward in his tweet by saying that a woman would do "anything." After all, don't feminists want women to be able to do anything?
