Play of the Day: Trump and Kim Compare 'Buttons'
Two leaders of nuclear powers trade barbs through the media.
President Donald Trump used his Twitter feed to continue his feud with the mainstream media this week, tweeting that he will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR" next week. Late-night hosts joked about the tweet, with The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joking that insulting media members is the correct way to use Twitter and Jimmy Kimmel joked about wondering if Trump "is physically able to give a trophy to someone other than himself." Late Show's Stephen Colbert even created an ad campaign for the awards, hoping to win in categories like "Least Breitbarty" and "The Eric Trump Memorial Award for Disappointment."
Trump also tweeted about nuclear-armed nation North Korea this week, noting that Kim Jong Un has a nuclear button, but that Trump's "is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!" Noah joked that Trump's tweet sounds like a remix of Kelis' famous pop song "Milkshake," while The Opposition's Jordan Klepper joked about Trump, Kim and the moment every boy has when he wants to "signal that their button is just is as impressive as their dad's." Kimmel joked that Trump's button is next to his "fried chicken button," Klepper joked about Trump's actual Diet Coke button and Colbert joked that Trump probably also has a See 'n Say button near his desk so that he can claim the cow says "fake moos."
