Play of the Day: The State of the Union Responses
The Democrats in the audience were unhappy and Rep. Joe Kennedy III had a problem with his mouth.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order this week to keep open the detention center at Guantanamo Bay. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the news, saying Trump probably thinks Guantanamo Bay is a water park.
Trump gave his first State of the Union address on Tuesday night and late-night joked about the speech on Wednesday. Conan O'Brien noted that Trump's address was the most-tweeted in history and told Abraham Lincoln to "suck it," while Late Night's Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel and Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about Trump's clapping for himself during his speech. The feed showing the speech showed Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer looking annoyed, exasperated and bored during the speech, prompting The Daily Show's Trevor Noah to joke that "they look like Trump also cheated on them with Stormy Daniels" while Meyers compared Pelosi to an angry high school administrator. Kimmel joked about the response from Rep. Joe Kennedy III and his weird mouth moisture that was later said to be from ChapStick. Kimmel even coined a nickname for the speech with the Kennedy family history: "Chappa-stickick."
