Play of the Day: Trump's Twitter Feed Is a Public Forum, Like MySpace In 2005
A judge rules in favor of those blocked by the president
President Donald Trump spent much of Wednesday morning on Twitter explaining a new claim of his about the "deep state" spying on him during the 2016 campaign. Trump called it "Spygate" on Twitter, prompting Late Show's Stephen Colbert to note that the name has already been used twice. Colbert then joked that the term "Watergate" will now be a reference to Trump's ability to drink out of a glass properly.
A judge ruled this week that the president cannot block people on Twitter, as his Twitter replies are a "public forum." Colbert joked that Trump now can send messages to his supporters exclusively via an Etsy page, while Jimmy Kimmel joked about the absurdity of the entire social media situation, saying "Can you imagine suing George Bush in 2005 for unfriending you on MySpace?"
