Play of the Day: Diplomacy and Threats Via All Caps Tweets
Trump warns Iran on his favorite social media platform.
According to reports, the United States agricultural industry is experiencing a meat surplus due to less trade after tariffs were imposed on Mexico and China with reports saying the U.S. has a "stockpile of meat." The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the phrase, saying that "stockpile of meat" is a good term for Tinder.
President Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday an all-caps warning to Iran after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a speech that “war with Iran is the mother of all wars.” Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the phrasing of Rouhani's speech, saying that Mother's Day in Iran must be intense. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the Trump tweet, saying "thank God we didn't elect a woman president. They're just too emotional." Colbert also joked that Trump's use of all caps isn't appropriate for diplomacy because it's barely the way to deal with a coworker who keeps stealing your yogurt from the fridge" and read such a note in Trump's signature style.
