Play of the Day: John Kelly Is Disappointed In His Breakfast
The NATO summit in Brussels is not turning out the way one member of Donald Trump's staff wanted it to.
President Donald Trump was in Brussels Wednesday meeting with NATO leaders. A photo was released of the NATO leaders gazing up at a military flyover and Trump appeared to be going against the grain in looking the other way, prompting some to note the metaphor nature of the photo. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the photo on Wednesday night, saying the photo was proof of Trump's "crushing defeat in the first round of International Simon Says."
Trump also said at a breakfast that "Germany is entirely controlled by Russia" because of Germany's reliance on Russian energy imports. During Trump's statement, Chief of Staff John Kelly rolled his eyes and generally looked displeased, though the White House press office sent out a statement saying that Kelly was not displeased with the president, but rather he "was displeased because he was expecting a full breakfast and there were only pastries and cheese." Jimmy Kimmel joked about the news, asking "Is this NATO or the hometown buffet?"
