Play of the Day: Donald Trump, George Washington and a Press Conference
The current president somehow brought the first president into the Brett Kavanaugh conversation.
According to reports, the anonymous author of the New York Times op-ed criticizing President Donald Trump could receive $10 million in a book deal. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the news, saying that Vice President Mike Pence has been seen around Washington in a fancy new wardrobe.
Trump spoke to reporters for 81 minutes on Wednesday about the allegations of sexual misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh. At one point, Trump said the accusations are a "big, fat con job," prompting Meyers and Late Show's Stephen Colbert to joke that the phrase could describe Trump. The president also said those who oppose him would oppose even George Washington, were Trump to bring him to the Senate, prompting Colbert to note that Washington would have trouble with confirmation, considering he owned other human beings as slaves. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked that Trump's endorsement is so toxic that one dollar bills with Washington's face are now going to be rejected by everyone in America, even strippers making their living.
