President Donald Trump announced this week that the U.S. would soon be removing most of its troops from Syria. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the news, saying Trump maybe shouldn't be making that decision, considering he probably thinks Syria is the voice on his iPhone.
With a shutdown barreling towards Washington, Trump reiterated his demand for border security funding in a continuing resolution, backtracking on his statements earlier in the week. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the president, saying everyone in Congress "is heading home for the holidays and Donald Trump decides to drop a steaming Yule log into the nog." Late Night's Seth Meyers and Colbert also joked about Trump's tweet suggesting the formerly concrete border wall would now be made of steel slats, with Colbert joking that Trump will eventually want a "giant beaded curtain" for a wall, while Meyers joked that Trump will settle for "rocks and tumbleweeds."
