Play of the Day: A 'Medieval' Solution For the Border
President Donald Trump touted his wall in historical terms.
After President Donald Trump gave his first primetime address on Tuesday night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., gave a rebuttal and social media roasted them online for their staging. Late-night hosts followed suit on Wednesday night, with The Daily Show's Trevor Noah saying they look like a couple being told there's no senior discount at Denny's, while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that they look like extras from the movie Get Out.
On Wednesday, Trump touted his border wall proposal by using language of his detractors. The president said “They say it’s a medieval solution. It’s true. It’s medieval because it worked then, and it works even better now.” Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the news, saying "that's why every medieval kingdom is still thriving today," while Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked that Trump would now be talking to alchemists and getting leeches as medical treatment.
