Play of the Day: The President Met With Tim Apple. Or Maybe Tim Cook.
Donald Trump got the Apple CEO's name wrong at a Wednesday meeting.
According to reports, President Donald Trump overrode the intelligence community's hesitance to give security clearances to his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, contradicting the president's and his family's previous comments. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the news, saying that Trump ordering the clearances was "one of the few Trump orders that didn't end with '…and a side of fries.'"
Trump met with his American Workforce Policy Advisory Board on Wednesday and called Apple CEO Tim Cook by the wrong name, saying "thank you very much, Tim Apple." Jimmy Kimmel joked about the faux pas, saying maybe Trump thought he was related to Fiona Apple. Late Late Show's James Corden joked that Trump definitely calls himself "Donald President," while Kimmel also joked that Trump got confused after meeting with Ronald McDonald recently. Corden also joked that Trump thanked the rest of those in attendance, including "Jeff Amazon" and "Greg Pizza Hut."
