Play of the Day: Further Examining the Barr Letter
Perhaps William Barr's letter was not as comprehensive as it could have been.
According to Google Trends, former Vice President Joe Biden and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg are the two most-searched presidential candidates in the 2020 Democratic field. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the news, saying that the lesser-known Buttigieg is happy people are Googling him, while Biden's recent time in the news suggests the former veep would like people to Google him less.
The New York Times reported this week that some on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team believe that Attorney General William Barr's summary of the Mueller Report was less-than-forthcoming about the report's contents. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the news on Thursday, saying that a four-page letter summarizing a 400-page report is like Barr holding a sign that says "Dragons did some stuff" to summarize the final season of Game of Thrones. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the brevity of the Barr letter, saying that something was up when he summarized the report on a cake that said "He's innocent," while Fallon joked that President Donald Trump may be suffering "from premature exoneration."
