Play of the Day: Steve Mnuchin Is Not Giving Up The Trump Tax Returns
The Treasury chief and House Democrats are at a stalemate.
This week marks the first anniversary of First Lady Melania Trump's Be Best campaign. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the news, saying that the phrase "Be best" sounds like the Incredible Hulk doing self-care in a mirror.
On Monday night, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin told Congress that he would not be giving them President Donald Trump's tax returns because the request “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose.” The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked about Mnuchin's looks by saying he looks like "grownup McLovin," while Late Late Show's James Corden noted that every photo of Mnuchin looks like it was taken mid-wedgie. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about Mnuchin's assertion that Congress doesn't have the power to get the documents, saying that it's "right there in the Constitution: All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States… unless some doofus named Steve doesn't like it."
