Play of the Day: The President Has an Agreement on This Piece of Paper, But You Can't See It
Donald Trump waved around a white sheet of paper, but didn't explain its contents to the assembled press.
President Donald Trump and 2020 Democratic candidate Joe Biden were both campaigning in Iowa at the same time on Tuesday. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the news, saying that the two were in Iowa "either because it's the first primary state or because Kevin Costner needed more old guys to walk out of the cornfields."
Trump spoke to reporters and waved around a folded white sheet of paper that he said contained an agreed-upon immigration deal with Mexico. Trump, however, refused to let reporters read or see the paper's contents, prompting late-night shows to joke. Colbert waved around three pieces of paper that contained "the Mexico deal, Middle East peace and the Colonel's Secret Recipe," while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that the paper just said "Do you want to make an agreement? Si or no" and Late Night's Seth Meyers joked that the paper was just a Denny's menu children's puzzle.
