Play of the Day: Bernie Sanders Is Here To Yell At You About Health Care
The Vermont Senator took center stage at Tuesday night's debate and lauded his plan.
CNN held the first of two July Democratic primary debates on Tuesday night, going up against the Bachlorette season finale. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the two shows, saying "some people were confused. Halfway through the debate, Luke P. proposed to Elizabeth Warren."
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders was the highest-polling candidate on stage and one of his signature issues – health care – took up much of the first hour of the debate. Former Rep. John Delaney tried to push back on Sanders' Medicare For All plan by saying "his math is wrong," prompting Late Show's Stephen Colbert to joke "I'm not sure the guy polling below 1% should be talking about math right now." Sanders also laid out his comprehensive plan, saying Medicare For All will provide hearing aids and glasses, prompting The Daily Show's Trevor Noah to ask why the 77-year-old Sanders sounded like he was "pitching health care only for himself"
