Play of the Day: Donald Trump and William Howard Taft Have Something in Common
No, it's not just the presidency.
President Donald Trump was rebuked by the Congress this week, after the House approved a resolution that “strongly condemned” the president after his racist tweets aimed at four Democratic nonwhite Congresswomen who have criticized him. Full Frontal's Samantha Bee joked about Trump's original tweets, noting that Trump didn't end his sentence on a preposition and suggested he return his "head to the orifice from which it came."
The condemnation from the House is historic in that such action has only been taken four times (other than impeachment), with the most recent being when Congress condemned President William Howard Taft in 1912. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that Trump heard this and asked "Wow. What did he tweet?" while Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the corpulent Taft and said he was censured for "eating a Congressional page."
