According to reports, President Donald Trump asked aides if the United States could purchase Greenland from Denmark. Last Week Tonight's John Oliver joked about the news, saying "is icy, distant and semi-autonomous. It's exactly Trump's type."
Last week, former New Hampshire congressman Dick Swett endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 Democratic primary, prompting late-night shows to joke about Swett's unusual name. Jimmy Kimmel asked "do you really hate the name 'Richard' that much?" Late Late Show's James Corden joked that "of course Dick Swett shows up during the hottest time of the year," while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that Biden rival Pete Buttigieg had to throw out all of his "Butti-Swett 2020" campaign placards.
