Most of the United States is at least a month into the isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic. Millions of Americans have filed for unemployment and major american corporations say that they are losing money at a previously-unseen rate. Late last week, protests in Michigan and Ohio had demonstrators chanting against the stay-at-home orders and arguing for “reopening the economy.”
Dr. Anna Scherbina, is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Brandeis International Business School and was a senior economist at the White House’s Council of Economic Advisers . Her paper on determining the optimal duration of the COVID19 suppression policy focuses on a coast-benefit analysis of such policies.
