New House civil service subcommittee chair named
House Government Reform Chairman Dan Burton, R-Ind., has named Rep. Dave Weldon, R-Fla., to be the new chairman of the Civil Service Subcommittee.
Weldon, who will take the gavel in September, will replace Rep. Joe Scarborough, R-Fla., who is resigning from Congress this fall.
The subcommittee has jurisdiction over the federal civil service, including compensation, health care and retirement benefits.
During the last Congress, the subcommittee produced legislation creating a long-term care insurance option for federal employees.
