Public servants honored next week
Six Obama administration officials host the week-long celebration of government workers.
The annual week-long celebration honoring public servants kicks off next Monday.
Public Service Recognition Week runs from May 3 to May 9, and six top Obama administration officials will serve as honorary co-chairs of the festivities: Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Administrator Martha Johnson of the General Services Administration, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry and Veteran Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.
The celebration, held annually since 1985, is designed to educate citizens about the many ways in which government serves them. This year's theme is "Innovation and Opportunity," and will offer citizens a taste of the range and type of work performed by public servants.
