Category Management: An End-to-End Transformation in Federal Procurement
Presented by Grant Thornton
Category management, identified as one of the administration’s key initiatives, has the potential to transform Federal procurement through enhanced collaboration across agencies and engagement with industry. Greater visibility into prices paid data and analytic capabilities will strengthen the position of Federal buyers, identifying opportunities for greater savings. However, category management goes a step beyond cost savings for organizations that implement its core processes by adding value at each step of the acquisition lifecycle. On the front end, robust spend analysis helps agencies better evaluate their supplier base and buyer demand while care to customer satisfaction and smarter use of supplier performance data, including CPARS and PPIRS, on the back end drive greater quality and performance management. Category management is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Listen in to understand how government can best utilize category management to buy smarter on behalf of the American taxpayer. In this viewcast you will learn:
- Explain key features of the category management model and how they can be implemented within agencies
- Describe how category management will drive collaboration between government and industry
- Gain insight into the buyer, procurement, and supplier perspectives on benefits and challenges of category management
- Discuss policy implications and current and future initiatives needed to make category management successful across government
At the conclusion of the viewcast, there will be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session with the panel - so don't forget to tweet your questions using #transformthruCM and tag @GrantThorntonUS and/or @GovExecEvents.
