Government goes mobile: Five trends to watch
This year could be the tipping point for government's adoption of mobile technology.
“Within a year," federal Chief Information Officer Steven VanRoekel wrote in January, "I expect the government to change the way we work -- to start embracing mobility-enabling technology across the federal workforce in a coordinated way.”
VanRoekel promised the release of a detailed mobility roadmap within the next two months. Whether or not it fundamentally changes the way agencies work by the end of the year, most observers of federal IT agree that 2012 could very well be a tipping point for mobility in government.
