Stan Collender is away this week, so we've extended the deadline to accept your nomination for the 1999 Black Ink Award!
Does 1998 winner Rep. John Kasich, R-Ohio, deserve the nod again, or has another legislator taken his place? How about Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan or President Clinton? Or is real budget benefactor outside of Washington entirely?
For the second year in a row, "Budget Battles" is presenting the "Black Ink Award" to the person or organization that readers select as having the most positive impact on this year's budget debate. Nominations, which can be made only via e-mail, will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 5 (Only one nomination per person will be accepted.)
Throughout November, readers will be given a chance to vote for one of the top five nominees. The winner of the award will be announced in the final "Budget Battles" of 1999.
So rally the troops, and make sure your favorite budgeteer makes the cut.
