Play of the Day: 2016's Field is the College Brochure of Presidential Politics
It's really quite a diverse group of contenders.
Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton stopped in Las Vegas recently and announced her immigration plans while in Nevada. The Daily Show's Jon Stewart joked about Clinton's inevitability, while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon tied immigration to Americans celebrating Cinco de Mayo this week.
Late-night TV favorite Mike Huckabee announced his entrance into the 2016 race this week. Members of the Duggar family endorsed him, causing Fallon and Late Night's Seth Meyers to question their choices. The Nightly Show's Larry Wilmore compared Huckabee's feelings about the separation of church and state to relationship problems some experience, while Conan O'Brien tied fellow Hope, Arkansas native Bill Clinton to Huckabee.
Also Wednesday night, Fallon talked about the gender and racial diversity of the 2016 candidates when he compared the field to the cover of a college brochure. Wilmore noted one of the female candidates -- Carly Fiorina -- and the massive layoffs she oversaw during time at Hewlett Packard with a colorful analogy about a favorite Sesame Street character.
