Play of the Day: Trump's United Nations Speech
The president doubled down on a nickname for Kim Jong-un and stumbled over a few key words.
President Donald Trump spoke at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, threatening to potentially destroy North Korea with nuclear war. He also called the hermit kingdom's leader "Rocket Man" in his U.N. speech, prompting Late Night's Seth Meyers to joke that the nickname sounded like something out of Top Gun. Jimmy Kimmel joked that the nickname sounds like an action movie franchise and The Daily Show's Trevor Noah compared the line to something out of Family Matters.
Trump stumbled over a few words in his speech, including stuttering on the words "United Nations." Viceland's Desus and Mero joked that North Korea could've stood up and told Trump to take his time because "teleprompters are hard." Noah also joked that Trump stumbling on the word "authoritarian" was like Liam Neeson messing up "particular" in his famous phone monologue in Taken.
