Play of the Day: The President is Tweeting Through it Again
In response to his latest scandal, Donald Trump sent over 100 tweets over the weekend.
President Donald Trump continued to defend himself on Twitter over the weekend, with over 100 tweets or retweets coming from the @realDonaldTrump account. In one, he accused the whistleblower of "SPYING" on the phone call, prompting Late Show's Stephen Colbert to note that the still-unnamed whistleblower simply noticed the Ukraine call and that it's not "spying, it's talking." Colbert then compared it to his own experience, joking "if I see a guy pooping on the subway platform and notify the transit police, that doesn't make me James Bond."
Trump – who is still furiously tweeting in defense of himself during the impeachment inquiry as of Tuesday – also tweeted a quote from controversial pastor Robert Jeffress that said removing Trump from office "will cause a Civil War like fracture." Late Night's Seth Meyers showed a photo of the Trump adult sons and joked about the Civil War "pitting brother against brother," while Late Late Show's James Corden quoted the tweet and joked "it's just nice to know that, if Trump does get impeached, he plans to exit gracefully."
