A law passed by the New York City Council and slated to go into effect late this year requires employers to include the minimum and maximum starting salary for any advertised job, promotion or transfer opportunity. Advocates say that the law will help shrink wage gaps affecting historically disadvantaged people by way of increased salary transparency.
